About Kathy

Kathy Bernier can be seen most days in the wilds of Waldo County where she wrestles goats, pretends to garden, wears ridiculously out-of-style clothing, swoons at the voice of Merle Haggard, frets over hot milk and the state of the union, and eats store-bought cookies when nobody’s looking.

From western Maine originally, but having spent enough time in other zip codes to be considered permanently tainted, Kathy has committed the entire Maine State Song to memory and sings it loud and off-key in hopes of redeeming herself. She spent the first half of her life trying to put her mother’s back woods ways in her rear-view mirror and the second half trying unsuccessfully to avoid becoming her mother. Now that her mother is in heaven laughing at her and Kathy is resigned to her fate, the only thing to do is carry on and try not to step in anything.
